METKA ATE chooses CIFA’s MAMBA Shotcrete Machine for the Thessaloniki Flyover Project

A new CIFA MAMBA has been delivered to METKA ATE, a subsidiary of the leading Greek multinational METLEN Energy & Metals.
Following the delivery of the first unit in 2023, METKA has added a second unit to its fleet, this time for the Thessaloniki Flyover project.

MAMBA is an advanced concrete spraying system ideal for all types of shotcrete applications in large infrastructure projects, underground job sites, and tunnels. It stands out for its user-friendliness and high maneuverability.
Like all other CIFA shotcrete machine models, the MAMBA is both diesel and electric powered. This ensures operational continuity in all conditions while particularly focusing on reducing carbon footprint and improving the working environment.

The project, known as “Flyover,” was initiated as an ambitious endeavor to improve the chronic problem of traffic congestion in Thessaloniki. It involves the construction of a 13-kilometer elevated highway, including 9 intersections, 4 kilometers of continuous bridge, 8 new bridges, and 3 tunnels. The aim is to enable faster and safer passage for vehicles, improve access to the airport, southern Thessaloniki, and Halkidiki, and reduce the number of road safety.
The total value of the project amounts to €382 million, with a construction timeline of four years.
It is expected that the “Flyover” will accommodate 10,000 vehicles per hour in each direction, significantly reducing traffic congestion in the city.
